Leadership Training

WWYC recruits and develops Leaders and Teams for short-term mission trips.  We take very seriously our responsibility to train the leaders and prepare them to lead their teams internationally.

A team of Americans and Ukrainians,
united with love for the Lord,
are ready for camp!

Each Team Leader is required to attend a Winter Team Leader Retreat, a time of spiritual and logistical preparation and training.  We worship the Lord together, spend time in individual and group prayer, develop relationships between team leaders, and conduct training sessions regarding procedures, policies, and logistics.  After the Team Leader Retreat, WWYC will conduct monthly Team Leader conference calls to answer questions and to ensure that team development and preparation are progressing.  In addition, numerous communications are shared between staff and Team Leaders to encourage and sharpen their leadership skills.

All of this will help develop leaders in all aspects of life, not just within the confines of their short-term mission trip.  It is our desire that Team Leaders become better leaders within their church, better parents to their children, better spouses to their loved ones, better workers in their profession, and better servants to our Lord.

Marina is a single, young professional woman who has worked with us for 3 years in our summer camp outreach as a mentor.  Upon completing the first summer of work, Marina commented to the camp director that she felt this experience had better equipped her to be a leader instead of a follower around her family, friends, and co-workers.  Since that first summer, Marina has often attended small groups offered through local churches, continued to mentor students, completed her graduate level studies, changed jobs, and is growing in her professional and personal leadership ability.

Empowering our mentors with practical leadership training is one of the great effects of our training and work in Ukraine and Russia.
